"Be perfect Maya."
"Stop Maya."
"You're ugly Maya."
"You'll never amount to anything."
"Just give up."
And I'm supposed to just sit here and pretend like everything is alright and just keep going. I love it when people tell me these things and then they act like it never happened. Teenage depression is the most common depression too,
Teenage Depression statistics show that teen depression is a common problem:
- About 20 percent of teens will experience teen depression before they reach adulthood.
- Between 10 to 15 percent of teenagers have some symptoms of teen depression at any one time.
- About 5 percent of teens are suffering from Major depression at any one time
- As many as 8.3 percent of teens suffer from depression for at least a year at a time, compared to about 5.3 percent of the general population.
- Most teens with depression will suffer from more than one episode. 20 to 40 percent will have more than one episode within two years, and 70 percent will have more than one episode before adulthood. Episodes of teen depression generally last about 8 months.
- Dysthymia, a type of mild, long-lasting depression, affects about 2 percent of teens, and about the same percentage of teens develop bipolar disorder in their late teenage years. 15 percent of teens with depression eventually develop bipolar disorder.
- A small percent of teens also suffer from seasonal depression, usually during the winter months in higher latitudes.
I see it I just dont think you want to talk about I really do care nd yeah at moments I get mad for no reason at all, Dont worry about
ReplyDeleteI think it's a bit silly that you're dealing with this utter (censored by me) because you honestly are one of the biggest badasses i know when it comes to dealing with stupid people, and anyone that thinks these things about you is a bad person. and as you might have seen on one of my other posts "those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" That quote i may overuse but it helped me get through my depression and realize that stupid (censored by me) are going to do what they do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ReplyDeleteIm right there with you when it comes to teen depression. I used to be suicidal about it...........
ReplyDeleteI just saw a news story about two kids from Eaglecreast Highschool in Colorado who killed themselves within a week of each other, and most people think that stuff is getting better with bullying commercials, that tend to tell kids and parents, it gets better, just have a good peer group and people to talk too, only four years of high school. To me that sounds like, "Oh great! for the next 1/5 of my life I'm going to hate my life and myself". Because having a good "Peer group" makes the bullies only want to do stuff more. It really is a touchy subject that is almost impossible to solve.
ReplyDeleteI know it is, and very much to that point that it feels as if no one really cares that its happening, you know? Like, if you dont have peer group syou get bullied and if you do you still do. Theres no win.
DeleteEspecially where u are used to almost everyone you meet having sumthing mean to say about u. Luckily 1 or 2 kids at this school have not judged me or been a jerk to me. im used to people not wanting to even try to be my friend.
ReplyDeleteIts nicer, huh?
DeleteI love Max's reply... and no. You don't need to put a smile on your face and pretend. I appreciate your research and understanding the immensity of the problem - and hopefully the function of getting help. No one needs to deal with problems on their own, and you may feel alone, but know that you are not. Perhaps you need a reminder of the small joys in life: One of Molly's favorite jokes to help you smile?
ReplyDelete"Knock Knock!" says Molly.
"Who's there?" asks Maya.
"Interrupting Cow" replies Molly.
"interrupting..." starts Maya.
"MOO!" shouts Molly, rudely interrupting Maya to "get" the joke.
:O)
love you!
Megan, you can make anyone laugh about the silliest of subjects and I love you too!
